Putting on my best Hunter Thompson vibe as an aspiring journalist in the early 1980s

With Mike Espy and his family when he took office in Washington, DC, becoming the first Black Congressman from Mississippi
since Reconstruction, 1986

With Ron Brown, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and a great mentor to me, around 1991

Introducing Andrew Cuomo at a press conference as his press secretary at HUD, 1997

In the Oval Office, around 1995. Later, I went public with my story about Clinton’s smarmy pick-up attempt when he had been Governor of Arkansas and I was a young campaign operative, effectively sinking my career with the Clinton Administration.

Howard Glaser was Andrew Cuomo’s closest aide when Cuomo was HUD Secretary and again during Cuomo’s first term as Governor.

With Andrew Cuomo in 2002 at my wedding to Howard Glaser

With Andrew Cuomo, then Governor, helping clean up after Hurricane Irene, in upstate New York, 2011

With NYC Mayor de Blasio as his press secretary, 2015

Jousting with the NYC press corps, some of the best journalists in the country.

After the accident in 2017, I had to wear a helmet 24/7 after surgery. Teddy Bear was a gift from one of Tali’s friends; I still keep him around for comfort today.

how I survived.

My husband stayed by my side throughout my recovery and helped bring me back to life.

Rehab was a long and painful process, but the therapists at Helen Hayes Hospital put up with my complaining and helped me walk again.

Rehab was emotionally as well as physically taxing

Physical activity was one key to coming back. Boxing and working out with my girlfriends helped me regain my strength, 2019

Working on this book on Amtrak from New York to New Orleans in 2019, passing near Soso where I chased trains with Janice and the coterie, looking for our escape. Writing was a way to recover my life after the accident.
